Technical Rehearsals are billed at a rate of $75/hour and Performances are billed at a rate of $95/hour with a 4 hour minimum required on each day booked. These rates includes the rental of the Theater space (and Studio C on performance days to be used as a green room/dressing room), use of BAX’s lighting and sound equipment and BAX’s Technical Director (TD). Some limited storage is available.
All theater performance rentals are staffed by BAX’s Technical Director (TD), who can also serve as the light/sound board operator when running simple lighting and sound cues. The TD can also design basic lights using BAX’s general plot. It is highly recommended you contract your own Lighting Designer and/or lighting/sound operator if your needs are very specific or complex. The TD will be present at all Techs, Dress, and Performances.
We will also provide a Front of House/Box Office Staff person for each performance to ensure the smooth running of the box office and the safety of the building. This will be billed at $70 per performance.
Contracting artist must provide a Production Assistant/Stage Hand (MANDATORY) and any other additional stage crew needed or deemed necessary by the TD. (See below for Optional BAX Staff.) The Production Assistant must attend all technical rehearsals. The Production Assistant and any other non-BAX personnel must set aside a half hour during the first hour of the first performance day for a briefing from the TD. Tech/Dress rehearsals are generally on Wednesday and/or Thursday evenings between 6:00-10:00pm (Theater reserved only).
Our normal format is a Friday and Saturday 8:00pm show with the Theater and Studio C reserved from 6:00-10:00pm. We can also offer one-night rentals and other variations pending availability.
All times booked for both Technical Rehearsals and Performance days must be approved by the TD. It is up to the discretion of the TD if sufficient time has been reserved based on the performance’s technical needs.
There is a required $75 refundable security deposit to be returned to the contracted renter the day after the event, provided the space is vacated in a timely way and in good condition. Contracting renter is required to sweep/mop the space or arrange for the appropriate crew after each Tech and Performance day.
BAX will promote Visitors Program performances (performance package rentals) on its website in the performance calendar as well as through its monthly email blasts. The event will also be featured on the outdoor display case and on bulletin boards throughout the building the week of the rental.
All publicity materials (e.g. postcards, press releases, programs, etc.) are the responsibility of the contracting artist and must be approved in advance by the BAX Marketing & Communications staff prior to publicizing your event.
New for the 2015/16 season, BAX will provide ticketing services for Visitors Program rentals through its vendor, Ovation Tix. Contracting artist keeps all box office receipts (less credit card processing and Ovation Tix ticketing fees). A detailed breakdown of fees will be given to the renter as part of their contract. BAX will provide, as part of the rental contract, a BAX Box Office Manager on the day of the event to administer the box office. Box Office opens ½ hours before show time.
